After taking this course, you will:
- Understand he difference between compassion fatigue, secondary trauma, and burnout
- Learn what professions are at-risk for developing these “occupational hazards”
- Assess your own level of compassion fatigue
- And develop strategies to help you reduce your level of stress.
2021 Update
This course was updated in 2021 to incorporate advancements in the field of compassion fatigue research. New content includes:
- Additional reading materials associated with each chapter
- A new interactive assessment tool based on the Venn Diagram
- A new interview with Françoise Mathieu, the course instructor

Being trauma informed is an act of social justice
I enjoyed the Compassion fatigue course aimed at increasing awareness of the hazards of working in the helping professions as well as others, providing strategies to building resilience and competence at the individual, team and organizational levels

Francoise presented the material in a way that was easy to comprehend with scenarios that solidified the teachings. There was such a great flow and scaffolding of information. The resources provided are extremely beneficial and will support ones own self awareness, growth and resiliency. The big lightbulb moment: Addressing empathetic strain and compassion fatigue is an act of social justice!
